Platform Engineering Labs Launches formae Cloud: Full Infrastructure Control, No Tooling, Just AI Agents, One Flat Price

Pointed at a cloud account, it discovers everything already running there, with no migration and no change freeze. From then on a team just talks to infrastructure: what is there, what changed and what needs to be different are one conversation, held in the AI coding agent they already use, or by an agent working on its own.

Asking an assistant to change cloud infrastructure is not in itself new. What has never existed is what formae Cloud puts underneath that convenience: a machine that makes each change exact and repeatable, structures and versions every change as it happens, and can produce current code describing anything running at any moment. That machine stays out of sight until somebody needs to look at it.

Structure and order have always had to be bought with apparatus – a language to express infrastructure in, a repository to keep it in, a pipeline to carry it, a review to gate it, a state file to track it, and people to keep all of that working. Teams that skip the apparatus move fast and end up with infrastructure nobody can account for. Teams that build it get order, and pay a complexity tax that slows them down from then on. formae Cloud gives them the order without anybody having to absorb the complexity.

Taking the apparatus away does not take away the safety it was there to provide. formae Cloud works out what has to change and in what order, checks every operation before anything moves, applies the smallest set of changes that gets there, then verifies the result, retries what needs retrying and records all of it. Nobody needs to to see it or to read a plan or to work out a dependency graph or to clean up a half-finished run by hand.

Nothing to Own Between Intent and Change

formae Cloud has one interface: the AI coding agent or assistant a team already uses. Asking what is running, what changed last week and making a change are the same conversation in plain language. An autonomous AI agent does the same work with no human present. What can be asked for covers everything infrastructure does over its life. An environment can be created with an expiry attached and removes itself on schedule. A change somebody made by hand can be put back, and stays back the next time too. A single setting on a single service can be moved during an incident without anything else shifting.

Speed That Does Not Have to Be Cleaned Up Later

Teams are told to slow down and do infrastructure properly because speed normally destroys the account of what was done. formae Cloud removes that consequence.

Infrastructure always has more than one author: an engineer in a hurry, a script, a console, an automated flow, and whoever was awake when something broke. Tools built around a state file assume a single author and are surprised by everything else. formae assumes the crowd. What is actually running is the record; it is discovered continuously, and every change is captured and versioned as it happens, whoever or whatever made it. The record is what is true now. The versions behind it are the history of how it became true. Current code describing any of it can be produced on request, for one service or an entire account, and it matches what is actually running rather than what somebody intended last quarter.

That pays off twice. Every change is exact today, and the full account of it is ready the first time anybody asks: a security questionnaire, an audit, the first infrastructure hire, an investor wanting to know how any of this works. The answer covers any moment in the company’s history, down to the code. No one wrote that code and no one kept it.

formae Cloud accesses customer’s public clouds (AWS, GCP, Azure) through an OIDC role they grant. There are no keys to hand over, and Platform Engineering Labs holds no credentials of theirs. The role can be narrowed or revoked at any time.

formae Cloud is available today, with simple installation. It is billed monthly, with unlimited resources and no per-seat charge, and starts with a free trial. A special launch offer is running now, and whoever takes it keeps that price for as long as they stay subscribed.
